Call for Application - SHORT COURSE IN APPLIED RHEOLOGY
A short course in applied rheology provides a focused exploration of the principles and practical applications of rheology – the study of the flow and deformation behaviour of materials. Participants gain insights into key concepts like viscosity, elasticity, and shear stress, and learn how these properties impact diverse materials in industrial settings.
By combining theory with practical application, participants acquire essential skills to analyze and manipulate material behaviour, enhancing their expertise and immediate applicability in various industries, such as making better food, medicines, and cosmetics.
This short course is designed to cater to professionals, researchers and those interested in material behaviour seeking to broaden their understanding of rheological principles and apply them to real-world scenarios. By the end of the program, participants will have acquired a practical skill set that enables them to analyze and manipulate the rheological properties of materials, contributing to improved product development and manufacturing processes.
The Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, in collaboration with the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada are organizing the Short Course in Applied Rheology from 7th to 9th May 2024.
The objective of this short course is to train interested stakeholders in the field of applied rheology.
The short course can be attended in-person or online/virtual.
Note: FST-KNUST has acquired a state-of-the-art rheometer to be used for training, research and analysis of rheological properties of biopolymers, food and non-food materials.
Date: Tuesday 7th to Thursday 9th May.2024.
Time: 10:00 to 2:00 pm GMT each day.
