Department Celebrates the Legacy of Prof. Mrs. Ibok Nsa Oduro at the Launch of Impressions

The Department of Food Science and Technology, KNUST, joined colleagues, alumni, students, family, and friends on 5 June 2026 to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Prof. Mrs. Ibok Nsa Oduro at the launch of Impressions, a collection of stories and reflections highlighting her outstanding contributions to academia, leadership, mentorship, and national development.

The event, held at the Allotey Auditorium of the College of Science, brought together distinguished guests including the Provost of the College of Science, senior faculty members of the University, former Municipal Chief Executive for Oforikrom, Mrs. Gloria Gambrah, Rev. Dr. Ransford Obeng of Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), alumni, students, and members of the wider community.

A particularly touching moment was the participation of headmasters, teachers, and students from Ayeduase schools, who expressed their gratitude for Prof. Oduro’s unwavering commitment to science education and community development. Members of the Women in STEM Ghana (WiSTEMgh) group at KNUST, led by Prof. Mercy Badu, were also present to honour Prof. Oduro for her longstanding dedication to advancing STEM education, especially for girls and young women. Through her advocacy, mentorship, and leadership, she has inspired many young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Prof. Oduro, a distinguished faculty member of the Department of Food Science and Technology, made history as the first female Provost of the College of Science and the first female Provost in the history of KNUST. Throughout her career, she has distinguished herself as an accomplished scholar, educator, researcher, mentor, and administrator whose influence extends far beyond the University.

The launch of Impressions served as a fitting tribute to a pioneering leader whose impact has been felt across academia, industry, communities, and generations of students. The Department of Food Science and Technology is proud to celebrate Prof. Oduro’s enduring legacy and joins the university community in honouring a trailblazer whose contributions continue to shape the future of science, education, and leadership in Ghana and beyond.
