The Department of Food Science and Technology hosts students from Western Link Educational Complex
The Department of Food Science and Technology, on Friday, 26th July, 2024 hosted students from the Western Link Educational Complex, Wenchi. The students were 66 in total and comprised of grade 4 and Junior High School three students with Integrated Science backgrounds.
The students expressed interest in learning more about the role a Food Scientist in society so the purpose of the visit was to provide them with a deeper understanding and practical applications of our Food Science and Technology program.The were received by the Head of Department, Prof. Faustina Dufie Wireko-Manu and Dr. John-Lewis Zinia Zaukuu, the Chairperson of the Laboratory Committee. The laboratory personnel's Mr. Yaw Gyesi and Mr. Redeemer Agbologbe gave them tour of our Food Science Laboratory and our Microbiology Laboratory with basic explanations about the activities that take place in the laboratories.
Our PhD student, Ms. Betty Bowe Acquah and our laboratory service personnel's Ms. Patience Dotse and Ms. Pierette Naa Ayele assisted with the tour guide and all activities during the visit. There was also moment for questions from the students, to which they received appropriate answers to their satisfaction.
The students were presented with chocolates from the Department before dispatching the students back to their destination.
