Interview with Grace Nana-Ama Martin, an alumna of FST-KNUST
My name is Grace Nana-Ama Martin. I am excited to share a few words about me.
Currently, I position myself as a Quality Assurance personnel in one of the biggest cocoa processing industries in Ghana. I started off after studying BSc. Food Science and Technology at KNUST as a Quality Control Analyst.
During this period, I bridged the gap between theories learnt in school and practicals on the field. Some of them include running moisture, fat, free fatty acids (FFA), fineness and ash using various equipment. Understanding some technicalities and how processing equipment function were core aspects of my job. It was not easy from the beginning. But with hard work, determination and focus, while allowing yourself to be trained aided me to excel and raise up fast to become one of the senior personnel in the Quality department. Upgrading one’s self was also another means through which I excelled.
I enrolled in some trainings and courses with Ghana Standards Authority and other training and certification bodies to beef up my stands and position. In addition to my quality job, I am also an auditor; auditing internal and some external systems for continuous improvements. I believe irrespective of the environment one finds himself, there is always an area where one can excel if one focuses.
