Department of Food Science and Technology Celebrate Outing National Service Scheme Personnel.
It was an atmosphere full of joy, excitement and memories at the send-off party organized by the Department of Food Science and Technology of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology- Kumasi for their Teaching and Research Assistant of the 2023/2024 academic year. Aroma from different foods filled the air as the TAs dined and shared memories with their lecturers and amongst themselves.
The event was organized to show gratitude to the National Service Personnel who served as teaching and research assistant at the department. It was a moment filled with joy for the completion of their service and also sadness as they bring their wonderful time in the working environment they have grown to love to an end.
The Head of Department, Professor Mrs. Faustina Dufie Wireko-Manu expressed her sincere appreciation to the personnel for their selfless service rendered to the department. She acknowledged their patience, willingness to learn, dedication, diligence and overall commitment to the department and the success of the students. She urged them to keep up the spirit of service wherever they find themselves and to focus on personal development whilst maintaining healthy competitions. She also encouraged them to take advantage of every opportunity they find assuring them of the support of the department anytime the need may arise.
The outgoing personnel also took turns to share their experiences, recounting how their lives have been transformed professionally, morally, academically and in other facets of life. They acknowledged the support and the impact that working with the department has made in their lives. They also expressed their gratitude to the lecturers and the entire staff of the department for their financial support to them during their period of service whilst waiting for their allowance.
As a department committed to continuous improvement of services and conditions of its staff, the head of department Professor. Mrs Faustina Dufie Wireko-Manu encouraged the personnel to share ideas on how best they can improve the working conditions for service personnel in the department. The personnel expressed their concerns and suggestions which she addressed and promised to take into consideration together with the department.
Dr. John-Lewis Zinia Zaukuu, encouraged the personnel to always keep in touch with the department and not to forget the lessons learnt. Mr. William Appaw, the head of the laboratory technicians also addressed certain questions raised by the personnel and assured them that the laboratory is ever ready to assist them should they be in need of any service. Once again, Professor Mrs. Wireko-Manu advised the personnel to venture into entrepreneurship and not to be dependent on the Government whilst adding to the masses of unemployed graduates. The event ended with prayer and continued with a series of fun picture-taking and memory-making moments.
Senior members present were Dr. Jacob K. Agbenorhevi, Dr. Francis Alemawor, Dr. Emmanuel Amankwah and Dr. De-Souza. The Departmental Secretary Ms. Naa Dede Ayensu and laboratory personnels: Mr. Redeemer Agbolegbe, Mr. Justice Opoku, Yaw Gyesi were also present to motivate and bid the TA's farewell.
