The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Twellium Industrial Company Ltd have begun discussions aimed at establishing a strategic partnership to strengthen industry–academia collaboration in research, student training, staff development and graduate employment.

A delegation from Twellium Industrial Company Ltd visited KNUST on 1st October 2026, where they engaged academic leaders, including the Heads of the Departments of Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Discussions focused on developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a framework for the partnership. Key areas identified included student internships and industrial attachments, collaborative research projects, sponsorship, scholarships, graduate recruitment, and staff capacity building.

The proposed partnership is expected to provide students with greater exposure to industrial practice while creating opportunities for KNUST researchers to work with industry to address practical challenges. Twellium Industrial Company Ltd would also benefit from the University's expertise, research capabilities and pool of talented graduates.

As part of the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College of Engineering, KNUST. The Provost welcomed the initiative and expressed his support for the proposed partnership. He encouraged the parties to expedite efforts to formalize the collaboration and translate the discussions into practical initiatives that would deliver meaningful and lasting impact.

The visit marked an important step towards building a stronger relationship between KNUST and Twellium Industrial Company Ltd, with both institutions looking forward to a partnership that advances education, research, innovation and industrial development.
