Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Ankar-Brewoo Appointed Independence Hall Tutor
Dr. Gloria M. Ankar-Brewoo, a lecturer at the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been appointed as Independence Hall Tutor. Her appointment marks a historic milestone, as she becomes the first female Fellow to occupy this leadership position in the Hall’s history.
Dr. Ankar-Brewoo’s election reflects the growing contribution and visibility of FST faculty in university-wide leadership, student welfare, and governance. She is widely recognized for her dedication to teaching, mentorship, and service, and has played an active role in advancing student-centered initiatives both within the Department and across the University.

Until recently, Dr. Ankar-Brewoo served as the Internship Coordinator for the Department of Food Science and Technology, where she successfully facilitated and strengthened internship placements for students with industry partners. Her efforts significantly enhanced students’ exposure to practical, industry-relevant training, reinforcing the Department’s commitment to producing career-ready graduates.
In her engagement with Fellows of Independence Hall, Dr. Ankar-Brewoo articulated a vision of inclusive and collaborative leadership, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, discipline, respect, mentorship, and mental well-being. She brings to the role valuable leadership experience from her service as Women’s Executive Officer of UTAG–KNUST, positioning her well to support the holistic development of students and foster a positive Hall community.
