Fresh from Innovation to Your Table: Nkabom Training Program Unveils Locally Developed Fruit Juices
The Department of Food Science and Technology at KNUST continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical training through the successful organization of a value addition workshop led by Prof. Faustina Wireko-Manu.
As part of this hands-on training under the Nkabom Collaborative initiative, participants translated theory into practice by developing a range of high-quality fruit juice products, now available for purchase by the university community and the public.
The workshop emphasized value addition to local agricultural produce, equipping participants with skills in product development, processing, packaging, and quality assurance. The fruit juices produced reflect not only technical competence but also the potential for scaling small agro-processing ventures in Ghana.
The products featuring vibrant blends such as citrus, tropical, and berry-inspired juices are attractively packaged and ready for consumption. They represent a practical outcome of the Nkabom program’s mission to foster youth entrepreneurship, food innovation, and industry-relevant skills.
Members of the department and its wider network are warmly invited to support this initiative by patronizing the products:
- Large bottle: GHS 20
- Small bottle: GHS 10
- Point of sale: Department Office, Food Science and Technology, KNUST
This initiative not only showcases the creativity and dedication of participants but also reinforces the department’s role as a hub for innovation, skills development, and industry engagement.
By purchasing these products, patrons are directly supporting student-led innovation and contributing to the growth of Ghana’s emerging agri-food enterprises.
Come by the department office and experience the taste of innovation!
