FST trains Food Vendors/Handlers on Campus
The Department in collaboration with the Environmental Quality Unit (EQU) of the Estate Organization-KNUST organized a Certificate Course in Food Hygiene for food vendors/ handlers from 7th to 29th September 2017 in the Halls of Residence and premises on KNUST Campus.
The KNUST Food Hygiene Certificate Course started since 2015 and is a fundamental requirement for Food Businesses or anyone involved in handling food and drinks.
The training was done in both English Language and Twi. Activities include: 1. Interactive lectures/facilitation on Environmental Sanitation, Food Hygiene and safety using PowerPoint projection and 2. Short video demonstrations and Group Discussions.
A total of 245 participants were awarded Certificates of Participation. Participants expressed that the training was very important and helpful. It has increased awareness on the importance of environmental sanitation, food hygiene and safety and hoped to improve the quality of foods and drinks sold on campus.
