Vice-Chancellor commissions Food Processing Plant Building and Students’ Reading Facility

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso together with some management members of the University has commissioned a newly constructed Food Processing Plant Building for the Department of Food Science and Technology of the College of Science (CoS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Dr. Faustina Dufie Wireko-Manu, said that the Department applies Chemistry, Physics, Engineering and Mathematics to study food and convert the raw materials to convenient and finished products. Dr. Wireko-Manu announced that the fully furnished building would enhance the training of students, upgrade the knowledge of food scientists and aid research.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, commissioning the project, hoped that most students and national service personnel would work and come out with innovative products to enhance KNUST’s brand.
He hoped that the food scientists would produce the edibles for the institution and the country at large.
The Provost of the College of Science, Professor Mrs. Ibok Oduro thanked the Vice Chancellor for making the dream of the College come true.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor with the Dean of Students, Professor Wilson Agyare unveiled a refurbished Students’ Reading Facility. The edifice houses the offices of the executives of the Students Representative Council (SRC), a learning area for regular, non-regular and postgraduate students.
